My daughter's teeth are rotten, but at least she potties!

Leelah the Pottynator!!! PRAISE THE SWEET LORD!!! My daughter is using the potty and loving it!!! Thanks for the prayers friends! I could not be any prouder of this child y'all! The title means- I reward her with Lifesaver candies. She doesn't ever eat candy. She still has watered down juice and will til she's 5. But I have to reward her while we're training, right!?

Now, I hope that I'm not jinxing it..... She hasn't mastered #2, but hey no accidents yesterday- WHOOP!!! It is a little bit embarrassing carrying around her non-collaspable potty seat with you in restaurants and Tar-jay. Especially when she's annoucing what might as well be over the intercom system, "I HAVE TO POT-TAAAYYY!" But all you mommies out there know what spellin'! Funny story: there are many but this one comes to mind- Today I asked her what kind of potty do you need to do (expecting her to know I was meaning pee or poo) and she said "The white one- the white potty" meaning the actual toilet. Well I thought it was funny.

It's amazing the comaraderie you get with people about pottytraining in public. It's like everyone's rooting for you and your child. I wish there was more things that brought people together like that. I also love seeing families pray when they're out to eat too. It just bonds you. So we bonded with a lady in the pharmacy department at Tar-jheeey. She watched our stuff while Leelah and I went potty. I told her that I didn't even care if it got stolen - that's how desperate you get when you are potty training guys. And seriously, I'm random but get over it, Leelah uses the smallest amount of toilet paper possible. The child does not understand the wipe concept at all. She actually makes more of a mess wiping with her nano-size paper than if she just didn't wipe at all. TMI- tough! You knew what you'd be getting into when you read the title. So God is good- Leelah rocks and it's Friday.

Eye Update 2009

a special note: PRAY FOR LESLY RICHARDSON AND LESH- They're having a baby boy Nathaniel today and I'm so crazy excited I can't even bear it!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus!!! Praise God for baby blessings!!!!
Argh. My pirate transformation is almost complete... I don't know where I was going with that.

Did I mention that I've seen the Dr. H's a week or so ago? We're best buds. No really. I love me some Dr. Hammy (Hamill) and Dr. Holz. So here's the deal on the ol' googly eyes...

Left eye:
Still blurry as all get out. I see blue vein sparks every morning I wake up. I must try to not sleep on my left side so much! Note that cataract surgery people! Good news: getting contact next week!!!!!!!!! Supposed to have it last last Friday, but wouldn'tcha know it, they don't make contacts for people who are "special" like I. So I had to wait and that's not a biggie since I know God's working on it. Hey at least I get anything at all! But I'm really looking forward to seeing through this new lens- well a lens on a lens. Cool huh? I also learned that and I may have mentioned this already they see "special" and "weird" people like me something like 5 people in 10 years. Which I was surprised they had even seen that many!
Right eye:
So looks like the docs weren't on the same page about this eye as me....I had to do some MAJOR cajoling and charming to get an appt for them to "think" about "letting me twist their arms" to do "anything at all" I know very quotey. Turns out as Dr. Holz so greatly puts it, "We've been down a stormy path with you..." I'm telling you I love my doctors. I mean NO sarcasm here, they are great! I don't do sarcasm, just hyperboles. So I got Dr. Hsquared to let me come in in April as opposed to six months, because let me tell you the right eye STINKS! The floaters are worsening and the cataract isn't helping either... Did I mention I had cataracts at 5! Premature my face! I think I wrote about that already. I'm now waiting for either the lens to drop like it did in the left and go blind in that eye (which is on it's way) or the cataract to move in and then BAM! I'm off to surgeryville with the H's. Since I'm seriously one of their favorite patients, they might even perform surgery on it before those conditions which would make me happy!
To sum it all up- I'm halfway through Eyegate. I am looking forward to having one clear eye- next week with the contacts. Oh yeah, I'm getting one for righty too. They said my astigmatism is so bad and can best be corrected by contacts. See glasses on someone like me would quote, "make me sick and throw up". DING DING- is that why I've been nauseous for a year? I'm still crazy dizzy and ralphy. So maybe THAT is the answer. We stopped all the neuro stuff since all the eye drama became so pressing. So all you astigmatism peeps out there- wear contacts not glasses! Something I had NO idea about. They had to specially make my contact for the right so I can wear it to see clear floaters. But hey no complaining- "Do everything without complaining or arguing.."--- Phil. 2:14.

Weekend Mania!!!!

First things first. This is all about last, last weekend. This weekend was fun, but last, last weekend was like a Monster Truck Jam of Awesome.
First Awesome Event... ASHLEY'S BABY SHOWER!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you- I love Ashley Sumners and Erin B. Hines. Two of my spectacular 3 roomies (love you too Alison Cash!) from college. I love them so much! My super sidey Ashley is expecting her first born son Jake- (Jacob Michael Sumners). And we rolled up to FW in the ol' D.R.C. (Dave Ramsey Corolla) or Ol' Smokey as I affectionately refer to it, to shower Mrs. Ashley with gifts and love. Did I mention how much I love her? I must have told John that for a week straight leading up to the event. I was so blessed with my roommates in college y'all- YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW! Must stop the gushing.... So we went on up there and lo and behold we found "Martin" (a.k.a. Ashley) all babied up! After Leelah vandalized the church hall with stickers, we celebrated Ashley and her baby boy with some fun. We are so very excited to meet him and are praying everything just goes like "textbook" for the Sumners family. She's due on 03-06-09 so keep her and Jon (Arbuckle) in your prayers!

Next Sick-Fun event.... Erin's Sick Cool Gallery of Pop Art and Design- er, I mean Apartment in the City!!!
Long live the pointing to the baby shot! So we started this spheil of pointing to our wombs when I was carrying Leelah. I'm kind of a dullard and didn't pick up that it was a spheil- but IT IS! So we're carrying it on... Forever...Check out Ashley's cool blog:http://thesumners.blogspot.com for more details as she is a way better chronicler of fun things than I.

Leelah would NOT stop playing with Erin's decorative glassy squished balls. STOP LEELAH!!! Note: Candle was soon extinguished after pic taken.
Then we had dinner at the Help Me From Overeating It's SOOOO Good- Pulido's in Downtown Fort Worth. Ashley's fave restaurant. This place was so great. I had tamales AND cheese enchiladas at the same time! Ashley took some pics of a funny door sign. Post it Ashley!

It was very hard for me to leave the roomies. I miss them incredibly much. Leelah loved "those girls". She even said at dinner, "I want to go sit with those girls" hence above picture. We are definitely looking forward to visiting soon!

Next Stop: Uncle Guy and Aunt Adena's Sweet Farm of Fun!!!
After dinner that Saturday night we drove into Palestine, Texas, stopped at Walmart where all things can be purchased including pajama pants, and stayed the night at the Farm. This was one of the best unplanned events ever. I'm telling you, if you're looking for a fun weekend- don't plan! I've never had so much footloose and fancy free-dom. Here's just a few of the 100 pics we took at the farm as we: woke up to an awesome breakfast, watched birds, rode on a Rhino and a four-wheeler, looked at kaleidoscopes, and CHILLAXED!!!! So fun. It's got Leelah saying, "Watch out for the cow poop!" and we're not even correcting her!

Whoop-worthy news!

Got a little story for ya Ags! WHOOP!

Went to the ol' eye doc on Friday (ahead of schedule because I'm "special" like that) by the way to interrupt myself what didn't I do on Friday? We did count them- 6 errands that day that included: renewing my DL (John had to drive me to it- DON'T ASK!), visiting the VFW Museum inside the DL office in Katy (who knew such a gem!?), eat a hot dog (this time with chili ON it- I know strange never done that...), drop off LJ at Annette's, went to eye doc, came back, picked up LJ, John grilled steaks, went to HEB (saw the entire church congregation there), etc. It was a fun day. Any whoop- the GOOD news. My left eye (surgeries eye) was acting up this past week and I just knew it was re-infected. This would NOT have been good as they would have had to remove the lens they just implanted for 6 mos, blah, blah, blah. So I was not looking forward to going as much as I love me some Dr. Holz and staff.

So JOhn goes with me this time- he'd never been and has to drive me since I can't drive for too long of distances. It was GREAT having him there with me. Thank you Lord for his awesome job! So Dr. Holz apparently took a liking to John- who doesn't- and let him look at my eye through the machine. John had no clue what he saw he confessed, but still very cool that he let him do that. So the doc checked it out and NO INFECTION! Hooray! It was as simple as drops. He also said he didn't think it was coming back and that when I get the right eye lensectomy/lens implant big guns surgery I shouldn't expect it to get infected since it's actually really rare that I got that infection in the first place. Yeah, I told you I was "special". 1 in a 2000-3000 chance actually. So good news all around.

I go to see Dr. Hammy Ham Hamill on Tuesday. Hoping that I get the laser treatment done and then a contact! Fingers crossed! That way I can actually start to see out of this left eye- something I haven't had in 2-3 yrs. So Thank you Jesus for these doctors and modern advances in medicine! So glad I live in Houston- well close.

I am attempting to sew Leelah some pj pants... They came out okay in a "SNL 50 yrs old Molly Shannon Classssss Act skit" kind of way. Also working on decupauging some paisley gift wrap on Leelah's dresser from Goodwill... Pics to come.

Our Bible study tore it up today with some Holy Chocolate Covered Strawberries complete with chocolate fountain of coolness (Thank you Caraways!)! I know I know- AWESOME! Anyone in the Houston/Katy area that's married in 20's-30's please come check us out we'd love to have you visit! www.second.org-thevine

On the road again...

Guess who's driving Miss Crazy? Me! That's right 3 road voyages done by yours truly! Now I cannot drive at night or on freeways since I'm still blurry-left-eyed and right still has streaks, but I'm just willing myself to make small trips everyday. Today I drove Leelah to the library and she had a BLAST and I did too. We love our Cinco Ranch Library! Totally rented Madagascar for free. So watch out Katy-ites/Katians. Gillian is hittin' the back streets of Katy- WITH A VENGEANCE!

Bad news is left eye still hurts like before the surgery.. Have called vitrectomy surgeon to figure that out... So we'll see (hopefully!). Have an appt on Tues with both docs. Supposed to get lens polished, contact fitting on left, etc. Hopefully I won't have to have lens removed that was just implanted due to infection. But God's got it all worked out so no worries!

My mom left for Oklahoma today to be with my grandmother who is in the late stages of Alzheimers. Please keep my family in your prayers as we are experiencing many sad moments. Especially my grandmother, that her last earthly moments will be joy-filled and for no suffering. For my mom who has to see her mom suffer. We can handle these things by knowing God's hand is on everything. What was intended for evil Will be turned for good.

Please pray

My dear friend Jane has just lost her mother to cancer this past Saturday. Please pray for her at this time and her family as they go through an extremely difficult and testing time. Please praise the Lord for taking her mother to heaven so that she may now know a painfree perfect life with the Lord. Pray that Jane and her family are filled with thoughts of her mother in heaven and that they may not be troubled with thoughts of her suffering here on earth. We lift Jane up who is a beautiful Christian believer and are so thankful that we can find peace in knowing God is holding her hand through this as he holds all of us. I know her pain, but I claim God's love and repair of my heart and of my eternal home. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. God bless you Jane and family.

I pray for every cancer-warrior and their families. It is horrendous to see the ones you love in pain. Do not lost hope and may your faith keep you steadfast in knowing God will turn that evil into good. It's because we live in a fallen world that we experience pain of this multitude and you can be assured that God will not let your pain go unattended.

This verse from the Bible is something I had written on a poster in my dad's hospital room while we was unable to walk due from cancer spreading to his bones. Please claim this for your life.
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow eary, they will walk and not be faint."

A place you MUST visit!

Oregon! We LOVED loved LOVED it! I had no idea Oregon would look or be like! We were fortunate enough to have the best tour guides (Aunt Sue and Uncle Mark) to show us around and we totally explored that state! Thank you again Nana and Poppa for this wonderful trip and all its memories. I completely fell in love with this state's landscapes. Let me tell you what it's got: mountains, beaches/coastal areas, waterfalls, snow- well usually not as much as what we saw but some, mist, clam chowder, scones, green hills, green valleys, green moss, tons of farms- CHRISTMAS TREE FARMS, cherry orchards, sand dunes (we didn't see these), gardens, and more stuff I don't even know about.
We stayed at an awesome B & B (never done that before and I could TOTALLy get used to that life!) Bird and Hat Inn where Pete and Jacqulin took outstanding care of us and our little ones.
I experienced several firsts: seeing huge waterfalls (I'm talkin' Last of the Mohicans y'all!), eating clam chowder- I was told there wasn't any mayo in it and it wasn't half bad!, eating Eggs Benedict, seeing a cherry orchard, eating fondue (it's not queso!), taking my baby on an airplane (they scanned her Minnie doll scanned- FOR REAL- I had no idea Minnie the Mouse was a terrorist suspect), staying at a B&B, eating Tomato Soup (yeah I don't get out much I guess), riding on a ATV in the snow (so James Bond), etc. Lots of fun and the best part of course was hanging with the fam. Leelah played hard with her sweet cousins Jack and Nate. They are too cool for school! Leelah loves them and said "thanks for playing with me". Which about made me cry. But the best line of the whole trip was said by Nate, age 5, "This trip is way more awesomer than you think." Which definitely sums it up!
